What is meant by the words “tetraplegia” or “paraplegia”?
Tetraplegia and paraplegia are medical terms referring to the level of spinal injury. Persons with tetraplegia have sustained injuries to one of the eight cervical segments of the spinal cord usually involving weakness and sensory loss in arms and legs. Those with paraplegia have lesions in the thoracic, lumbar, or sacral regions of the spinal cord usually involving the legs. Back to the top.
