How is the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau organized? The CACVB is a non-profit 501(c) 6 organization. The organization is led by an elected Board of Governors and is funded though a 55% public / 45% private partnership. The CACVB builds synergies around the public / private investments and is able to collectively do more to promote the Charleston area as a result of this collaborative. Public funds for tourism promotion come to the CACVB via: • Funding municipalities (state and county accommodations tax collections). • Grant programs through the State of South Carolina / South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism.
