What is meant by the active and passive voice?
In the active voice, the subject of the sentence is performing the action. In the passive voice, the subject is receiving the performed action. For example: I mowed the lawn. That is an example of active voice. The lawn was mowed by me. That is an example of passive voice. Generally, the active voice is the preferred method of writing.
