What is meant by “seconds” when referring to ceramic tile?
Many large, national home improvement chains sell “seconds,” which are production lots of tile that do not pass a quality check at the factory for one reason or another, including irregular size. Large, national home improvement chains buy these lots in large quantities, which enables them to sell them very cheaply to consumers. I do not recommend using seconds in any application.
