What is meant by egistered students?
In completing the tables for student numbers applicants should include all students, both new and continuing, registered in each of the years. The table in section 2 refers to students where the intended outcome is the acquisition of a PhD, even if they are initially registered as MPhil students prior to upgrading. The table in section 3 refers to students registered on a course for which the intended outcome is the acquisition of a masters. In terms of the capture point for information, the data on student numbers is based on information returned to HESA each year so the same timeframe should be used.
