“Real-time” means that the information you operate on is current, rather than representing conditions as they may have existed 30 minutes or several hours before. In the past, dispatchers operated on manually created charts or boards that approximate the locations of each driver. Such systems were prone to error and delays, changes of sequence and break downs which quickly rendered them out-of-date.
