What is meant by positive and negative feedback?

In terms of of an animal body feedback is basically the bodies response to certain effects. For example if the body was hurt by touching some thorns the it would send feedback in the form of pain signals to the brain so the animal would know to avoid stepping on thorns in the future. I would classify that as negative feedback. Also if the animals body needed more food it would feel hungry (negative) and after eating it would feel better (positive). I’m sure there is a more scienetific reason for those feeling but I can’t think of it at the moment. but to answers your questions They are responses to (mostly external) events or effects They trigger effects like the production of a drug or a signal to the brain They are there to protect the animal and ensure it gets what it needs What controls them?
