What is meant by DIN and NDC?
DIN stands for Drug Identification Number – an eight digit number issued by Health Canada for drugs approved for sale and use in Canada. NDC stands for National Drug Code. This is used in the United States. It is a ten digit number – usually presented three segments based on the vendor, medicinal strength, and packaging. The NDC usually serves as the core of the product’s UPC code. The DIN or NDC number must be present on the front label of any drug product sold in Canada or the USA respectively.
