What is meant by curing live rock?
Live rock contains millions of life forms on it when it gets shipped or moved from one environment to another a certain amount of “die off” of these life forms occur. So uncured rock is usually ammonia laden and “curing” it really means to cycle it. Ammonia to nitrite to nitrate, when you have zero ammonia & nitrite you will get faint nitrate readings indicating it cycled or cured. Depending on how much dieoff is on the rock determines how long the cycle takes. It can be anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks or even longer!
