What is meant by a Conformation Event?
A Conformation Event is an event in which licensed AKC Judges evaluate the dog or bitch who, in their opinion, most nearly matches the Breed Standard for that breed. Only one dog and one bitch will receive AKC Championship Points in each Breed. These Class dogs and bitches are called Winners Dog and Winners Bitch. Then, they compete in Winners Class for Best of Winners(BW),Best of Opposite Sex To Best of Breed/Variety(BOS), and the one who best matches the Breed Standard called Best of Breed/Variety(BB). The Best of Breed Winner represents the Breed in the Group Competition. In the Tibetan Spaniel, this is the Non-Sporting Group. There are Seven Groups:Sporting,Hound, Working,Terrier,Toy,Non-Sporting, and Herding. These seven undefeated Best of Breed Winners compete for BEST IN SHOW! The one dog that is undefeated at the close of the Dog Show, who in the Judges Opinion best embodies his/her BREED STANDARD!
