What is meaning of electromagnetic wave?
Nature of all radiation is electromagnetic, EXCEPT sound. They all have speed of light. Radio wave, Microwave, Infra red(heat), visible light( red to violet ), ultraviolet, x ray, gamma ray and cosmic ray all are electromagnetic in nature.These can move through vacuum. These consist of oscillating electric and magnetic fields perpendicular to direction of propagation of radiation.
Electromagnetic waves are formed when an electric field couples with a magnetic field. The magnetic and electric fields of an electromagnetic wave are perpendicular to each other and to the direction of the wave the space surrounding an electric charge, Magnetic fields surround magnetic materials Light, microwaves, x-rays, and TV and radio transmissions are all kinds of electromagnetic waves.
