What is mean by alternative fuel vehicles?
If you look at the kind of questions that appear in this category you will think that “alternative fueled vehicles” can mean just about anything. In general, the implication of the word, “alternative,” is going to be something that is “other” than the normal. At one time an internal combustion engine vehicle might have been an alternative to a steam or electric powered car. Later a diesel powered vehicle would have been considered “alternative.” Now we commonly see discussions of Hydrogen, bio-fuels, ethanol, methanol, and electricity (although this last might strictly not be considered a “fuel.”) Fuels for motor vehicles are generally liquid but they may be gaseous.
