Matlab is a computer program for doing numerical computation, especially linear algebra. It began as a “MATrix LABoratory” program, intended to provide interactive access to the libraries Linpack and Eispack. It has since grown well beyond these libraries to become a powerful tool for visualization, programming, research, engineering, and communication. Matlab’s strengths include cutting-edge algorithms, enormous data-handling abilities, and powerful programming tools. Matlab is installed on the UITS shared Unix system Quarry, and also on the Windows and Macintosh computers in the Student Technology Centers (STCs) at Indiana University Bloomington. For more information about Matlab, visit the Stat/Math Center’s Matlab web page. For more information about statistical and mathematical software, email the UITS Stat/Math Center, visit the center’s web page, or phone 812-855-4724 (IUB) or 317-278-4740 (IUPUI). The center is located in Bloomington at 410 N. Park Avenue, and is open for consu
