What is maternal and fetal risk assessment?
When your health care provider does a fetal risk assessment, he or she asks many questions about your medical, family, and pregnancy history. A physical exam is also done. The information helps your provider know what problems, if any, may occur during your pregnancy. Your health care provider can then plan the care and monitoring that you will probably need during the pregnancy. Your health care provider will take your history and do the physical exam during your first prenatal visit. Information will then be added at each prenatal visit.
