What is MassHealth and How Can I Apply?
MassHealth, which is a public health insurance program, is a combination of the national health insurance program, Medicaid, and the State Children’s Health Insurance Plan (SCHIP). MassHealth is designed for low-to-medium income group people of Massachusetts. As such, the program aims to help children, adults working for small employers, pregnant women, disabled individuals, unemployed individuals, parents and caretakers of children, HIV positive individuals, people requiring long-term care, Department of Mental Health clients, and women with breast or cervical cancer, and elderly people. The Executive Office of Health and Human Services manages MassHealth while the cost of the program is taken care of by the Federal and the state government. The main eligibility criteria being income and size of the family, you may be eligible for MassHealth despite having health insurance. The MassHealth program covers a wide range of services that include doctor visits, lab tests, substance-abuse tr
