A person who is unable to appear for the ceremony may agree to marriage by the appearance of a proxy appointed in the affidavit prescribed in the (Affidavit of Absent Applicant) of the Family Code [FC §2.007]. At least one applicant must appear in person to apply for a marriage license, but the marriage ceremony may be performed with either one or two proxies standing in for the couple to be married.
