What is maritime development?
The Draft State Planning Policy Coastal Protection defines maritime development as development and associated works that are required to be in, or adjacent to, tidal water to function. These developments include ports and harbours, marine transport and industry precincts, marinas, docks, wharves, service and navigational facilitates, small craft facilities including boat harbours, boat ramps, jetties, and pontoons which may include parts of navigational channels and basins; and industries (such as aquaculture) reliant on access to the sea.
