Marital property is all real estate and personal property (including professional licenses, businesses, stocks, retirement benefitsIRA’s, bank accounts) acquired by the parties during the marriage and owned as of the date of filing or commencement of marital litigation. How the property is titled is not always relevant but there are exceptions.
