• Maltodextrin is another ‘sciency’ word for a type of carbohydrate made from corn starch. • If you have Coeliac Disease, corn-based maltodextrins are safe as they don’t contain proteins from wheat, barley, oats or rye. However they may be a problem if you have an intolerance to corn.
