What is MAE 586 project work ( for Non-thesis MS students)?
MAE 586 – “Project work in Mechanical Engineering” is an independent project course with no formal lectures. The first objective is to find a faculty member to serve as your independent project adviser This course is not a team project. Generally, you will perform some sort of analysis (or experiment if you have facilities at your disposal) of mutual interest. Most students do some sort of extension of a topic of interest in a graduate course they have taken. Since there are no lectures it is critically important that the project be well defined so that there is not a misunderstanding between you and your faculty adviser.
