What is Macro-Vision?
Macro-Vision is an Anti-Piracy system developed in the early days of Videotape. It sends out spurious data in the synchronisation section of an analogue video signal, this then causes recording devices synchronisation problems that manifests itself as fluctuating brightness & unstable frames. This can cause synchronisation problems in some early generations of various display devices & also prevents the use of DVD players in an RF distribution system. When using some of the mods listed you may come across an option to turn off the Macro-Vision. Some players do not have this option & if your display device is failing to synchronise, or if you want to use your DVD within an RF distribution system then an external sync cleaning device will be necessary.
