A. Loofah is a vegetable sponge. Loofah plant belongs to the gourd family, same as cucumber plant. Loofah is grown widely in Asia, South America and North Africa. Loofah fruit which looks like large cucumbers, has a fibrous vascular system. After the skin and pulp have been removed, the fibrous skeleton is treated. Loofah has many uses in industrial and domestic applications. Now a days it is used extensively as a bathroom sponge, and for making bath and body articles. It is excellent for cleansing, massaging and removing dead skin. i. Loofah is environmentally safe, biodegradable and a renewable resource – in other words totally environmentally friendly. ii. Caring for your loofah products – After use, always rinse your loofah article, thoroughly, remove all soap and leave to dry in a ventilated place with good air circulation. Loofah is an organic material, and if left in a damp place, mould will start to form. If that happens, discard your loofah article.
