What is lollapalooza
Lollapalooza is a music festival that features alternative rock, hip hop and punk bands. It also includes dance and comedy performances along with craft booths and other activities. From 1991-1997 the festival toured North America. It was revived in 2003 and from 2005 until the present, it has taken place in Grant Park, Chicago. A brief low point caused the festival to be cancelled in 2004 due to a sharp decline in ticket sales. In 2006, the Chicago Park District and Capital Sports & Entertainment agreed to a five year, $5 million deal, keeping Lollapalooza at Grant Park in Chicago until 2011. Lollapalooza was founded by Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell in 1990. It was meant to be a farewell tour to his band and it ended up running annually until 1997.
