What is live in service, and what do I need to provide for the live-in aide?
Live-in service is 24 hours a day/7 days a week, and may be provided on an ongoing basis, or for standardized time periods (e.g. Monday-Friday) to allow family caregivers to work outside the home and assume weekend care. Live-in care can also be arranged as a respite service to relieve family caregivers once a month or for family vacations. During the 24 hours live-in day, it is expected that the caregiver will provide an average of 10 hours of intermittent care. They will have 3 hours for mealtime, 3 hours of “free time” and approximately 8 hours of sleep. Free time means time that the caregiver may be relaxing by watching TV, reading, writing letters, etc. The live-in aide is not allowed to leave the home during this time without consent from CareSource Inc. so that appropriate coverage can be arranged.
