What is liner pitting or liner cavitation?

0

Liner pitting is caused by the piston’s movement vibrating the liner without proper antifreeze coolant protection. On the outside of the liner a low pressure area is formed and boils the coolant forming bubbles on the outside of the liner. As the pistons movement continues, the bubble is imploded, or smashed between the liner and block causing liner pitting.
