What is life in the navy like?
A. Depends on your rate. You’re a code-cutter, then you’re a programmer, then you’re an analyst… it’s like the civilian world. You move up, you get more responsibility, first in development and then in design. It also depends on where you’re stationed. Aboard ship you’ll have to stand watches. You’ll have GQ drills. It’s just like the rest of the Navy. Ashore, you just won’t have the GQ drills. B. Aboard ship space is at a premium. As an E-3, maybe even as an IT3, you may have very little lockable storage space. Tempting stuff can grow legs. You have may a little space in your work space. Whatever you carry aboard, you’ll have to carry off, and you won’t have a lot of time to make a lot of trips. If it’s small, cool. If not, you may want to rethink dragging it around. C. You may even have a chance to show off for the guys if you ship has a recreation area.
