What is Lexia Early Reading?
Lexia Early Reading is used at the Kindergarten level at the Sam Placentino school. It is one tool used to help develop the auditory processing abilities that are necessary for word attack skills (decoding). One important skill is phonemic awareness which is the ability to distinguish and manipulate sounds in spoken language. Lexia Early Reading helps provide a structured way of teaching rhyme, alliteration, sound blending and sound segmentation in a fun and engaging way.
