What is Lexapro like as an antidepressant?
My husband suffers from chronic depression and severe anxiety. He was put on Lexapro last year and found a job right away (after 18 prior months of unemployment). His mood was better, his thinking sharper, his (corny) sense of humor returned, his social life improved. He became more organized. In short, he returned to being the man I married. Your friends won’t know you’re on it, and it won’t ‘zombify’ you. It will help you with school. My husband thought that it might have made him a little tired, but he was on Lyrica for diabetes at the time, so I think it was the Lyrica making him tired. There are several other antidepressants that address the problem of depression and anxiety. Lexapro seems to have the fewest side effects. Prozab, Wellbutrin, and Abilify are three others.
