What is Lewis Structure?

0

The Lewis structure is noting the elements in a compound by their chemical symbol and then attaching them to other elements with lines. The number of lines represent the strength of their bonds. For example H — N — H ] <--- should be a single straight line H The Nitrogen has 5 electrons and each H has 1 so they (want of total 8) electrons. The all share a total of 8 electrons. Look at the chemical chart and determine the number of electrons in the outer shell.

lewis structure is the dot structure where you take the valence e- and write it around the element. the number of the valance e- is the families… like the noble gases are 8th column ..so they have 8 valence electrons.

a lewis structure is the atom symbol with it’s valence electrons as dots beside it so, if you have hydrogen and it has one electron it looks like H* and then lets say you have carbon C with four dots around it…kinda hard to type out but just imagine four dots …
