“Leprosy or Hansen’s disease is a chronic infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae.[1] Leprosy is primarily a granulomatous disease of the peripheral nerves, mucosa of the upper respiratory tract, and produces skin lesions.[2] If left untreated, there can be progressive and permanent damage to the skin, nerves, limbs and eyes.

If I’m not mistaken leprosy has been irraticated in the US…I’m curious as to when the last case was reported…I will have to look that up.
