What is left of Tasmania’s tall hardwood trees?

In 1996, only 13% of the original cover of Eucalyptus regnans remained as ancient forest in Tasmania. Less than half of that 13% is protected in national parks and other reserves. In the US, the Redwood trees (the world’s tallest) have been protected and mythologised. In Australia we continue to cut down our tallest trees.
