What is LEED certification and how does the GBMPC Program prepare me for it?
LEED certification is a distinction awarded to buildings. LEED accreditation is awarded to individuals who demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of green building and the LEED® Green Building Rating Systems . The LEED Accredited Professional (or LEED AP) Exam is an exam offered through the Green Building Certification Institute (www.gbci.org), a separately incorporated entity with the support of the U.S. Green Building Council. Our program is loosely organized in accordance with the LEED® Green Building Rating Systems , but imparts an understanding of sustainability and green-building strategies that is much broader and more comprehensive, though less focused on specific credit requirements, than is needed in order to pass the LEED-AP exam.
