What is Laser Assisted Lipolysis?
Laser assisted lipolysis is an alternative to other more traditional forms of liposuction. While other forms of liposuction simply break up the unwanted fat by the movements of a cannula so that the fat can be sucked out, laser assisted lipolysis utilizes the power of lasers to melt the unwanted fat first, thereby making it far easier to remove with a cannula. In some cases, small amounts of fat do not even have to be removed with a a cannula; rather, the body’s natural way of eliminating fat and toxins through the process known as lipolysis occurs instead, making invasive surgery unecessary. However, in most cases laser assisted lipolysis refers to any liposuction procedure that surgically removes fat with the assistance of a laser. It is less invasive, resulting in a shorter recovery period with results appearing faster. Bruising, bleeding and swelling are dramatically reduced. The laser also allows the skin in the area treated to tighten so that a smoother contour results.
