What is Lafayette Habitat for Humanity?
A. Since 1992 Lafayette Habitat has been transforming lives by partnering with local families and communities to create affordable homeownership opportunities for people who would otherwise be unable to purchase a home of their own. Habitat brings together community resources of volunteer labor, donated materials and financial contributions in order to build simple, decent homes which are sold to partner families at cost, via no-interest mortgages. The new homeowners payments are then recycled to build homes with more families in need. Q. Who are Habitat homeowners? A. Our homeowners come from all walks of life and hold a variety of positions within our community, many in fields of service on which you and your family rely every day. Some of our partner families include police officers, emergency medical technicians, teachers aides, an Army reservist, postal workers and certified nurse assistants.
