What is LAC test?
Length After Carding (LAC) is a test used to estimate the processing potential of scoured or carbonised carding wool consignments. A sample of the scoured or carbonised wool is processed under very strictly controlled conditions (to minimise fibre breakage) into a sliver. The length of the sliver is then measured using an Almeter. This test is designed for early stage processors and is not used for greasy wool. The Staple Length & Strength measurements are more suitable for greasy wool, although in the case of carding wool types it may not be possible to provide a measurement of Staple Strength.
