What is l2 cache and how much do i need?
L2 cache is used by the CPU and is on the same die (chip) as the CPU, you also have L1 cache this is usually smaller cache is memory like RAM but it runs at the same speed as the processor and is very expensive to manufacture (thats why it isn’t used instead of RAM) also as it is directly on the CPU chip there is no need for a bus (connection) and so no loss (or very little loss) of frequency occurs it works like this a program is loaded from hard drive to the RAM for use and is stored in the RAM whilst in use, any instructions requiring processing are sent to the CPU but before being processed they are sent to L2 cache and wait until the CPU processes it in turn, from L2 cache it goes to L1 cache think of it like paperwork being transferred from one department to another it is easier for you (CPU) to manage smaller chunks of paperwork (data) on your desk (L1 cache) than a massive pile and is quicker if you have an area that you pick up paperwork for use close to your workspace (L2 cac
