What is jock itch fungal infection?
Jock itch (tinea cruris) is a fungal infection that is mostly found in young men, but can also be found in overweight women or those who wear tight pants. Symptoms of jock itch include red skin that burns or itches anywhere in the groin. The red, infected skin patch may also form pus or vesicles in severe cases. Like athlete’s foot, fungal infections of the groin thrive in moist and warm areas. Infection of the groin can be spread to the feet, or vise versa. Most cases of jock itch can be treated with over the counter topical antifungal creams. More severe cases of jock itch require oral antifungal treatments.
