What is JobShop Temps?
A. Launched in January 2009 your Students’ Union is piloting an internal student temp agency called JobShop Temps. The idea is to run an internal student temp agency to provide temp/casual student staff to the University. Previously the University had used outside agencies to fill temporary or casual positions. The Students’ Union JobShop, working with the University, decided develop a service that would mean our own students would get the opportunity to fill these roles. The scheme will remain in a pilot stage until September 2010 and has proved to be a quiet success so far. Unfortunately the recession has had a negative impact on the number of temp/casual positions available and we are therefore not recruiting any new JobShop Temps at this time. JobShop Temps will continue to run and we can only see the number of opportunities growing so make sure you are kept up to date and subscribe to the JobShop to receive regular updates.
