What is job seekers allowance?
Jobseekers is a payment to the unemployed who are actively seeking work, usually it can’t be paid to anyone under 18 (unless you have children) or a student in full time education, Which does include summer holidays etc. the details you ahve to fill out are pretty basic, personal details, NI number, previous work history/reason for leaving, family situation (who you live with and where), info about any savings or other and last you provide your bank details. once you send off the forms within a week someone will ring you to go over the details, check everything is correct and give you a time and date to go into your local jobcentre and have an interview – they ask what you’ve been doing to look for work, what kind of job your looking for and what hours you can or cannot work. They get you to fill out some paperwork and then tell you the next date you need to sign on (usually 2 weeks later). The money will then be in your account 3 working days later.
