What is Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum?
Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum (JPPM) is a bit difficult to describe because there are so many facets to this magnificent property. Located in the heart of Calvert County Maryland, JPPM consists of 560 acres on the Patuxent River & St Leonards Creek. Gifted to the State of Maryland on June 16, 1983 by Mrs. Jefferson Patterson, this state owned and operated facility is Marylands State Museum of Archaeology and History. It is also home of the Maryland Archaeology Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab), a world-class archaeology, research, conservation and storage research facility. There are numerous walking trails with more than 2-1/2 miles of shoreline trails. It is still a working farm. It is a history and heritage education facility, including programs in Archaeology and Native American education.
