What is Jeans for Genes Day?
Jeans for Genes Day is the main annual fundraising event for the Children’s Medical Research Institute. It began in 1994 and to date has raised over $41 million for the Children’s Medical Research Institute. We encourage all Australian’s to wear their favourite jeans to work or school and make a donation or buy a badge for the privilege.
Friday August1 is Jeans for Genes Day, the day you get to wear jeans for a great cause: finding cures for childrens diseases. Jeans for Genes is a major FUNdraiser of the Childrens Medical Research Institute. Scientists at the Childrens Medical Research Institute delve deep into the inner workings of our cells to discover how our genes work and how faults in our genes cause disease. We need to know whats right before we can cure whats wrong. Jeans for Genes Day allows us to give them a helping hand. On sale until 1st August 2008!
Jeans for Genes is a major fundraiser of the Children’s Medical Research Institute. This includes Jeans for Genes Day, events, exhibitions and other FUNdraising events throughout the year. Chances are you probably know someone who has a genetic disease, because one in twenty children are born with some form of genetic fault. There are children with leukaemia, muscular dystrophy, genetic defects and many other disorders. The scientists at the Children’s Medical Research Institute are working to try to prevent these diseases before they occur in our children, or where that is not possible to develop better treatments.
