What is it with parents starting their babies on whole milk at 9 months?
While people are raising children, they tend to throw common sense out the window. A lot of new parent will take anything thier doctor says as the word of god, and most people would be surprised at how often doctors are supposed to read up on reccomended health practices (since they’ve changed time and again since they graduated med school). Some parents don’t take the time to investigate things they feed thier children, and a LOT of parents have this “it was fine for me, so it’s ok” idea. Infant mortality rates drop dramaticaly when parents do thier research about infant nutrition. Some people just can’t be bothered. Too bad. I happen to think Infant nutrition is a publis health issue, and just like we don’t let kids ride in cars without car seats, we should be taking steps to ensure children under 2 have a healthy diet, especially now that life expectantcy is dropping due to obesity.
