What is it with all their arguing anyway?
Maddie and David have the typical love/hate relationship that one may classify as, “they hate to love and love to hate.” The first three seasons portray the duo solving cases, arguing, disagreeing, slamming doors, and talking rapidly and extensively at the same time, while underneath each is attracted to the other and truly care for each other. After they get involved at the end of the 3rd season, (“I am Curious…Maddie”) Maddie and David spend half of fourth season apart, trying to resolve their feelings for each other. After Maddie’s return to L.A., the couple faces some major challenges, including Maddie’s marriage to a man she met briefly on the train, the loss of her baby, and David’s feelings of betrayal that leaves tension between them for pretty much the rest of the series, even though they agree to remain as “pals.
