” Most of my life I had watched “A Christmas Carol” on Christmas Eve and I knew that there was some Christian imagery in the telling of that story, but I could not quite put my finger on it and I was not ambitious enough to research it. It was enough that the old classic gave me a warm, sentimental feeling. But in 1993, things changed. I was in a car accident that left my left leg paralyzed. After the initial surgeries, I was just grateful just be alive, even though I would be in a wheel chair. Later I graduated to a walker, then I learned to walk with a cane. In my recovery, it felt so good be out in public that I didn’t notice the odd (sometimes piteous) stares that people would give me when they noticed that I was walking with walker and had a brace on my leg when I was so young, but my friends noticed the stares.
