Employment Eligibility The West Yorkshire Police Communications Division is the nerve centre of Force. We are the first contact most people will have when calling for assistance. In order to become a Call Handler or Communications Operator with West Yorkshire Police you must meet the following requirements: • You will need to have a National Insurance number. • Have the legal right to work in England or Wales. • Pass the application process • Pass training and assessment • Pass background investigation • Pass a hearing and eye sight test The following are items may automatically disqualify a candidate: • Conviction or caution Upon selection and successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, applicants receive a start date and are scheduled for both classroom and on-the-job phase training program. In addition, all Communications employees receive continuing professional training/education throughout their career.
