— Walker, Poe Montessori Magnet School, Wake Co. On the Madison River we saw five adult trumpeter swans and four cygnets (young) floating in the river. Occasionally they would plunge their long necks underwater in search of food. The adults were strikingly white with black beaks while the cygnets were a soft gray.
