What is it like to have a good concept of social graces/etiquette?

Having a good concept of social grace does help you deal with situations in life that might be very uncomfortable otherwise. Good manners are designed to make people feel at ease and comfortable. It’s a shame when people use them as a way to judge others or to make them feel inferior since that is completely contrary to what good manners are meant to be. The only time it is okay to correct someone is off to the side out of the public eye and even then, only to someone that means a great deal to you and only if they are about to do something that would embarrass them more than a gentle correction from you.
