What is it like living in Cuzco?
Cuzco is a small city with most of the comforts you are accustomed to: cash machines, supermarkets (though small), lots of restuarants and hotels, wonderful sites to see, and beautiful remnants of its past. It’s a beautiful small city. You can walk to many places. The period when the course takes place is actually winter in the southern hemispere, so it will be sunny and warm most of the time during the day, but quite cool in the evening and chilly at night. (Fortunately, it is also the dry season.) There is no centralized heating, and the temperature may go down to the 40’s or even the 30’s. So take warm sleepware, and warm, ‘fallish’ clothing. Layers are the key. A warm coat is also a good idea. You can travel by “minibus” very cheaply, and join working cuzqueños in sardine style, packed into this form of public transportation.
