What is it like living as a resident in Halifax?
Halifax is indeed a unique city. It is the capital city of a small and beautiful province, and it is the centre of commerce and culture for the entire Maritime region. There is a strong Maritime and military presence and tradition, and much of its unique culture is derived from that. Unofficially, it must stage more parades than any other Canadian city! It is also an educational hotbed, with a large number of post-secondary institutions – this leads to a young and vigorous nightlife for those so inclined. But the nightlife is also unique; there are not many other towns where you go to a pub and share a pint with a stranger old enough to be your grandfather, both of you banging your mugs on the table as you chant out the verses of Barrett’s Privateers.
