What is Ironwood?
Ironwood is one of the largest trees found in the Sonoran Desert. This plant can grow up to 45 feet tall and is known to survive as long as 1,500 years.Ironwoods are an evergreen tree, with blooms of lavender and pink flowers in early summer. The ironwood is also home to many creatures, providing a source for food and protection to herbivores of the Sonoran Desert. The flowers on the ironwood are even used for medicinal purposes.
